EMPACT REACH's vision started years before the organisation was created. During his time as a team member of a Ghanaian television programme on education, leadership and development, "The Be Bold Show", Mr Reginald Adjei became convinced that Africa needed more than individual interventions to bring about lasting change. He envisioned a nonprofit organisation that would holistically address development issues, be strongly committed to the Sustainable Development Goals, and directly work with grassroots communities that are often left behind.
That conviction was reinforced over the years through his academic studies and experience as a Development Planner and Project Manager in government institutions in the field of sustainable development. Working with the Ketu South Municipal Assembly and the Ghana Enterprises Agency (at the Head Office and Ketu South BAC), he has been exposed to a harsh reality: many communities in the Volta Region are characterised by the coexistence of opportunity and deprivation.
Ketu South was clearly distinguishable. Many communities continue to experience high levels of multidimensional poverty, unemployment and limited access to opportunities despite their strategic location near Lomé, Togo, and its linkage to major economic activity. He had lived and volunteered in the region for many years, and seen the challenges up close and personal: poor livelihoods, weak environmental practices, inadequate access to quality healthcare, inadequate support systems and gaps in community governance.
He also learned that there were some organisations active in the area, but very few were deliberately working on long-term, integrated and sustainable development. The daily lives of the poor were not only impacted, but so was the treatment of animals and the health of the broader environment. There was a strong interdependence among livelihoods, nutrition, public health and environmental well-being, which were frequently treated as separate issues.
Frustration slowly turned into a sense of responsibility. That responsibility, coupled with years of learning, service and community engagement, led to the creation of EMPACT REACH LBG on July 21st, 2025, an organisation that believed that sustainable change had to be holistic, inclusive and community-driven.
At the centre of our work are the people and communities most often overlooked. We are committed to empowering women and girls, supporting underserved men and boys, advancing the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities, and promoting responsible care for animals, especially pets, as part of healthier and safer communities. Through our programmes and partnerships, we aim to unlock potential, reduce inequalities and create opportunities that lead to lasting impact, ensuring no one is left behind.
Sustainable development is a shared responsibility. Our activities align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in the promotion of local planning and initiatives that facilitate inclusive growth that is community-based.
In most communities, there are vulnerable women and girls, underserved men and boys, and persons with disabilities who usually encounter obstacles that restrict their opportunities and dignity. Also, animal health and livestock development, which are critical in the livelihoods, and nutrition, are occasionally overlooked, and this impacts families and the natural environment. These encourage us to act with compassion.
We not only want to meet a community's immediate needs through our integrated programs but also to build resilience and empower people. We do this by motivating the community members to be active in shaping their development trajectory. Using the bottom-up approach, and rather than working in silos, we collaborate with stakeholders to ensure coordination at all levels, enabling us to impart implicit and tacit knowledge and create ripple effects that support grassroots-level change.
Sustainable change requires partnerships, close collaboration, and active involvement of stakeholders, with whom we share our vision and mission. This is why I am inviting you to join us in caring for people, animals, plants, and the environment to flourish. As a service volunteer, associate member, partner, or donor, we would be pleased to connect with impact-makers to learn about your effective work that is changing lives.
