While he was a team member of The Be Bold Show, a Ghanaian television talk show that promoted education, leadership, and development, Mr. Reginald Adjei vowed to establish a not-for-profit organization in the future that would holistically, and primarily focus on SDGs 3, 6, 2, 1, 8, 4, 5, 10, 13, 15, 7, 16, 11, & 17 to serve and make a direct impact, especially in grassroots communities.
He has since served mostly in the government sector, notably as a Development Planner and Project Manager for sustainable development after years of study and training. His exposure to the Ketu South Municipal Assembly and the Ghana Enterprises Agency at the central and municipal levels made him realize that there are deprivations and opportunities coexisting in the Volta Region. The most notable one is Ketu South, a municipality close to Lome, the capital of Togo, and a 4-hour drive from Accra. It is strategically positioned, but it experiences high rates of multidimensional poverty and a lack of opportunities for its high population.
Having lived and volunteered in this underserved region over the years, it became evident that there were very few nonprofit organizations, and none of them were aimed at real and sustainable development that could deal with the intertwined problems of health, livelihoods, environment, and community governance in support of government initiatives. Poverty was extreme, and it also implies that animals, which were the main source of livelihoods in the area, were not given the conscious attention they deserved to live with people. This not only impacted household income and nutrition but also posed a threat to community health and the environment. These loopholes offered an opportunity to act and a need to act, fuelled by a sense of frustration and a dream that led to EMPACT REACH LBG in 2025.
At the heart of all we do, we have a strong focus on the most vulnerable: women and girls, who should be empowered, protected, and given a chance to lead; underserved men and boys, who must not be ignored in education, livelihoods, and well-being; persons with disabilities (PWDs), whose rights and dignity should be acknowledged and respected; and animals, in particular, pets. We develop programs and projects that are unlocking potential, reducing disparities and bringing change to communities in the long term as we focus on equity and inclusion and transform lives and ensure that no one is left behind.
Sustainable development is a shared responsibility. Our activities are in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in the promotion of local planning and initiatives that facilitate inclusive growth that is community-based.
In most communities, there are vulnerable women and girls, underserved men and boys, and individuals with disabilities who usually encounter obstacles that restrict their opportunities and dignity. Also, Animal health and livestock, that is critical in the livelihoods, nutrition, and health, are occasionally overlooked, and this impacts families and the natural environment. These facts encourage us to act with urgency, concern, and dedication.
We not only want to meet a community's immediate needs through our integrated programs but also to build resilience and empower people. This we do by motivating the community members to be active in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the initiatives that influence their lives. Using the bottom-up approach, and rather than working in silos, we work together with stakeholders to make sure things fit together at the municipal and district levels, so we can share implicit and tacit knowledge and create ripple effects that support grassroots change.
Sustainable change requires partnerships, collaboration, and active involvement of key stakeholders with whom we share our vision, and that is why I would like you to join us in serving disadvantaged communities, where people and animals can flourish. As a service volunteer, partner, donor, or advocate, we would be pleased to connect with impact-makers to learn about your effective work that is changing lives.
An empowered, dignified world where resilient communities and local actors act with compassion, to develop holistically, for people to thrive sustainably, and in harmony with nature.
To empower people through empathy and partnerships to act on interrelated challenges, reaching each life with integrated solutions that improve livelihoods via effective governance and care for humans, animals, and environmental well-being.
